After 15 years of close father-daughter collaboration, Ariane Coissieux has led the school as sole director since 2008.

A remarkably talented yet deeply modest ceramicist, Christian was an inveterate researcher and an undisputed pioneer recognized throughout the profession, particularly in high-fire glazes and kilns.
He was also a humble, generous Master who built a school in the truest sense of the word—where technical mastery goes hand in hand with ethics and a distinct philosophy of craft.
His students are recognizable by their work, as unique and personal as each piece may be, and by their approach to the craft.
He developed a highly effective methodology for teaching ceramic throwing.
Since 2008, when he departed for the stars he so loved to observe, there is no doubt he continues to take pride in the students of L’École des Céramistes.
Affectionately known as “Maître X’eu,” his legacy is carried forward by his daughter Ariane. Bringing her own vision and passion to the craft, she trains independent artist-craftspeople who master the complete ceramic process—rooted in a multi-millennial culture and ready to forge their own paths.
